Service Director

City Winery, located in Soho, is Manhattan's only fully functioning Winery, Concert Venue, Private Event Space, Bar & Restaurant. We strive to deliver elevated experiences for our guests in an atmosphere of wine, food and music. We are a unique facility, combining a fully functioning winery with intimate concerts, food & wine classes, and private events in a variety of configurations. City Winery has created a compelling mix for our sophisticated clientele by bringing the wine country experience to the heart of the city. 

Currently we are looking for a Service Director to oversee the hiring of all service staff and ensure proper training on all aspects of our company culture and service responsibilities. An ideal candidate would be one who is a hospitality minded leader who can also facilitate the highest level of guest satisfaction across all mediums. The candidate must possess an inherent talent to identify future talent for our service team and must implement our company policies on best practices. 

The Service Director positions acts as a bridge to all departments on staff education, services and integrated parts of the company. This position also works with management teams, including, but not limited to Private events and Culinary departments to successfully achieve a smooth running operation. 

Service Director Position Details: 

  • Collaborate across locations to maintain up to date training documents and quizzes for new and existing staff training 
  • Monitor new hire training for each service position; this includes a review of each service position detail 
  • Handle all service hiring and terminating in accordance with company procedure
  • Be conduit of communication between FOH and BOH and maintain a healthy relationship between the two departments 
  • Collaborate with private and public event departments to review future monthly programming
  • Address staffing, payroll, inventory, and social reviews 
  • Spearhead driving revenue by creating staff incentives and tracking sales 
  • Work with production team to address FOH & Private event production needs  
  • Meet routinely with the Private events team and BOH to accurately coordinate and work through BEOs 
  • Manage pre-service meeting agenda for the restaurant and Private events' execution: review shift notes, food training, beverage/service notes, new product launches and changes to policies and procedures 
  • Perform any and all other related functions required as related to Service operations 

Qualifications 

  • Working knowledge of Excel, google apps, and Aloha (and/or similar POS systems)
  • 2-3 years experience in venue or restaurant operations 
  • Full flexibility to work weekends and holidays
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage a team
