Grower relations – Vineyard Liaison, 2018 season.
City Winery, a company with urban wineries in 6 eastern cities, is recruiting a seasonal Oregon vineyard liaison for 2018. This position is ideally suited to a current viticultural student or recent graduate. You will be working with an Oregon wine and vineyard professional with 25 years experience. This is a part-time seasonal position.
Duties include monthly visits to City Winery’s 3 partner vineyards in the Willamette Valley, crop sampling & assessment, grower relations, monthly written reports to City Winery management, and harvest organization in the autumn. This last component is the most demanding. City Winery harvests into FYBs, chills the crop at a facility in Yamhill, then loads and dispatches the crop via refrigerated rail containers or trucks to the east coast.
The job is expected to require on 1-2 days per month during the summer and an intense week or two of work during harvest managing the logistics of receiving FYBs shipped from California, distributing them to each of our 3 vineyards, being present at each location during the pick, and finally overseeing the safe transport, chilling and shipment of the crop.
Compensation is a fixed contract rate based on the contract tonnage. This is a part-time seasonal position. The right candidate may be considered for promotion in 2019 if they prove exception this season and with the recommendation of our current senior vineyard liaison.
