Floor Manager

City Winery strives to deliver the highest-end combined culinary and cultural experience to our guests who are passionate in sharing wine, music, and culinary arts. We are seeking a Floor Manager for our Boston location.  The Floor Manager reports directly to Service Director and General Manager. Interacts with restaurant, bar and venue guests, ensuring a positive guest experience by touching all tables. Encourages and maximizes food and beverage sales through pre-shift trainings, and promotes retail wine sales from our fully-functioning urban winery. The position requires a hospitality professional who ensures guest satisfaction while overseeing service associates. Works an estimated 45-50 hours/ week and also performs nightly closes.

  • Provide on-the-floor support to sales / service for the duration of a service shift
  • Manage day to day restaurant floor operations, including assigning server sections, overseeing side work, observing steps of service, and maintaining overall cleanliness/tidiness of the restaurant
  • Helps and assists service staff with anything needed, running food, taking orders, greeting guests, making sure to be present on the floor during peek times and when ever needed
  • Manage staffing and operations of private events, as applicable
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing needs on a weekly basis
  • Perform all cash handling procedures: opening, mid-day safe counts, cash pay-outs and nightly cash drops, as needed
  • Check in with guests in bar, restaurant, and venue during shift to ensure guest satisfaction, identify any opportunities, observe service, teach and guide staff.
  • Conduct staff trainings both in daily pre-shifts and monthly FOH staff service meetings
  • Demonstrate an ability to lead and motivate others, and achieve results. Empowered to make day-to-day decisions confidently both with guests, service teams and other departmental management.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with service teams and management.
  • Ability to read and interpret a Banquet Event Order, facilitating execution of events ranging from 15-300 people

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 1+ years experience in a high volume restaurant. Ability to work holidays, flexible hours, including nights and weekends
  • Event execution experience
  • Leadership: Demonstrate an ability to lead, motivate a large service staff, achieve results, create a teamwork environment.
  • Empowered to make day-to-day decisions that benefit our guest, service teams and other departmental management.
  • Planning: Able to perform short and long range planning through email, scheduling software and company calendars.
  • Communication: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills with service teams and management.
  • Hospitality: Maintain focus on high-level service quality, Aloha POS, wine and high volume knowledge a plus.
